Tales by the Fire.

I grew up surrounded by spa and sauna culture back home in Hungary — it was just there, woven into everyday life. Available whenever you needed it, but also the place where people gathered, connected, and marked the occasions that mattered. As I grew older, I learned the incredible healing power of the sauna — how it forces you to be present, breathe, and slowly reset.

We're based in St Abbs, a historic fishing village on the Scottish coast with a rich past — once home to a herring salting station, its whole history shaped by the sea and the people who worked it. The sea gave people their livelihood here for centuries, and in return they've respected it, protected it, voluntarily and independently, so it could be preserved for future generations.

St Abbs is also something genuinely special in its own right — one of the richest pockets of wildlife on this coastline, with an incredible diversity of species on land, in the air, and beneath the waves. Seabirds crowd the cliffs, seals haul out along the shore, and the Berwickshire Marine Reserve just offshore is one of the best cold-water diving sites in the UK. Between that and my own background as a marine biologist, the sea has never just been the backdrop — it's always been part of our story.

Salting Station is a welcoming space where “wild” stories bring people together — the ones about the deep blue, the rare sightings, the fish that got away, and the day someone finally got talked into a cold dip. North Sea tales forged by the fire, a sauna experience shared by everyone, quietly lifting your spirit whenever you need it.
